Faye signs in
We're off - West Ham have confirmed their first signing of the summer.
Stoke City centre-half Abdoulaye Faye has joined United on a free transfer after being released by the Potters.
The 33-year-old veteran is well known to new Hammers boss Sam Allardyce, who first signed the 6'2" defender for Bolton in 2005.
Speaking to the club's website tonight, he said: "I am very happy to be here at West Ham - this is a great club, a big club and I cannot wait to get started.
"For me to come here was no problem. I had other club's offers, but I was happy to come here.
"People may ask why as the team are in the Championship, but I am excited at the challenge to help get the team back to the Premier League, where I think the club belongs.
"The club also has a great fan base and I am looking forward to playing for them and giving my all on the pitch."
The Senegalese defender made his name in France playing for clubs such as Jeanne d'Arc and Lens before being brought to England by Allardyce.
After three years at Bolton, Faye spent time at Newcastle before joining Stoke, with whom his three-year contract ends next month.

Nolan on his way
Kevin Nolan is undergoing a medical ahead of a move to West Ham, according to PA reports this lunchtime.
The 28-year-old captain of Newcastle United was the subject of a rejected offer, thought to be in the region of £3million, last week.
However with talks having continued it would appear that a deal has finally been struck, with the former Bolton player said to be undergoing tests today.

West Ham have confirmed the capture of former Newcastle captain Kevin Nolan.
The 28-year-old has, as expected, completed his move to West Ham less than 72 hours since Abdoulaye Faye, another ex-Bolton star became Sam Allardyce's first signing for the club.
Nolan - who will earn around £50,000 per week - has signed a five-year deal with the Hammers although the fee involved, thought to be circa £4million, remains undisclosed.
The deal has been almost overwhelmingly approved by Irons fans posting on the KUMB.com forums - a virtually unprecedented situation.
News of Nolan's signing was confirmed by West Ham on their website at whufc.com this afternoon. "It's been a bit of a whirlwind, but obviously once I knew that they wanted me, they have shown a certain hunger and desire to make sure I become a West Ham player," he said.
"Having the chance to link up with Sam again is a massive thing and obviously coming to such a massive club is great for me. I'm very sad to leave Newcastle but I'm coming to another massive club in my eyes and hopefully I can start off and be as successful as I was there.
"I came to West Ham because of the tradition of the club and everything about it. I've always enjoyed playing here and there was also the chance of linking up with Sam and working with him again.
"The be all and end all was that the club actually wanted me and the owners put faith in me and have given me a security of contract. Now it's my time to repay them and hopefully I will do that."
The unwanted
West Ham have contributed eight players to the Premier League's end of season list of free agents.
The eight released by West Ham are Anthony Edgar, Holmar Orn Eyjoffson, Danny Gabbidon, Lars Jacobsen, Filip Modelski, Jonathan Spector, Adam Street and former club captain Matthew Upson.
Parker bid rejected
West Ham are understood to have rejected a derisory bid for Scott Parker from Tottenham.
According to reports, the north London club placed a £4million bid for the current Football Writers' Player of the Year - less than half the price West Ham have privately placed on the midfielder's head.

Viljaš Boaš je insistirao da je vezan klauzulom, odbio je Romu, Juventus i Inter, čekajući poziv iz Engleske.
Kao njegov nekadašnji mentor, Žoze Murinjo, preselio se nakon fantastične sezone među "zmajevima" u Englesku. Manje - više je javna tajna da će preuzeti Čelsi, a spekuliše se da je sam platio klauzulu od 15 miliona evra, u šta je teško poverovati.
U svakom slučaju ovaj 33 - godišnjak je na putu snova. Dugi niz godina skaut Žozea Murinja i pomoćni trener, osamostalio se 2009. i preuzeo Akademiku. Klub iz Koimbre je bio poslednji na tabeli, ali ih je Viljaš Boaš doveo do 11. mesta.
Odmah je usledio poziv Portoa, i tripla kruna, titule u šampionatu i kupu, kao i u Ligi Evrope.
Viljaš Boaš govori odlično engleski, a manje je poznato da ima i engleske krvi, što će oduševiti navijače Čelsija. Jedna njegova baba je Engleskinja, a ima i rođake među plemstvom.
Otkrio ga je, kao i Murinja, Englez. Ser Bobi Robson je još 1994. pozvao Viljaša Boaša da volontira u Portou kao mladi trener. Tada je imao svega 17 godina, ali i mogućnost da napreduje pod sjajnim učiteljima.

Danas bila prva Alardajsova konferencija za stampu, glavni i jedini cilj je povratak u PL, kaze da treba da vrati duh i pobednicki mentalitet nazad u klub, a dugotrajni cilj je gornja polovina EPL tabele i borba za Evropu.
Sto se tice igraca, pricao je sa Kolisonom i Tomkinsom, klinci su generalno ok, hoce da ostanu, Hiclsperger je napustio klub i produzio dalje sto se njega tice, a jos nisu dobijene nikakve konkretne ponude za reprezantativce Kola, Parkera i Grina.
Sezona ce biti teska, ali ako su mogli QPR i Noric prosle godine da izguraju 46 teskih meceva, moze i mora i West Ham.
