Norway striker John Carew has become the fifth new face at West Ham United this summer
West Ham United are delighted to announce the signing of Norway striker John Carew.
The Hammers' fifth summer recruit with a proven Premier League track record, Carew passed a medical on Saturday morning before putting pen to paper at the Boleyn Ground in the afternoon. He has been handed the No11 shirt.
The imposing 6'5-tall forward will bring vast experience to the forward line, having earned league winners' medals in three different countries. With Norway going well in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying, he continues to be a leading international and has scored 23 goals in 88 games for his country.
Speaking exclusively to whufc.com, he said: "I am so pleased to be here. I am very happy to sign for such a big club. I am looking forward to being part of a good team here that will bring this great club back up to the Premier League again."
Carew first met Sam Allardyce on Thursday to agree his switch to east London. He had been coveted by several clubs across Europe since leaving Aston Villa at the end of last season but was eager to sign up for the club's Championship challenge.
"The manager was very good," Carew added. "I know about him from other players, former team-mates I know who have played under him. They all had fantastic words to say about him. He spoke well to me and I think he is a great manager and I am very happy to be playing for him and for the club."
At the start of a hugely successful career, Carew's first major honour was the Norwegian title with Rosenborg BK in 1999 before notable displays in European competition saw him attract the attention of Europe's elite clubs.
Valencia paid £7.5m for his services in 2000 and Carew went on to help them to the 2001 UEFA Champions League final and a Spanish title in 2001/02. From there, he headed to France and he ultimately won a Ligue 1 championship with Olympique Lyonnais in 2005/06
Carew, 31, has been in England since January 2007, racking up 133 appearances for Aston Villa and scoring 54 goals overall. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Stoke City, playing 13 times for the Potters.
The striker will not be eligible to play against Cardiff City on Sunday, having not been registered in time with the Football League. Allardyce could field his other four new recruits, with Joey O'Brien, Abdoulaye Faye, Kevin Nolan and Matthew Taylor all forming part of his matchday squad. Carew is the first Norwegian to sign for the club since defender Ragnvald Soma, who played seven league games between 2001 and 2002.

Đi-sung Park potpisao novi ugovor sa Junajtedom
Borbeni fudbaler sredine terena, Đi-sung Park, produžio je ugovor sa svojim klubom i tako okončao priče o svojoj budućnosti na Old Trafordu.
Iako pred kraj prošle sezone Park nije bio siguran hoće li ostati u Mančesteru, reprezentativac Južne Koreje je sa velikim oduševljenjem danas objavio da je produžio svoj važeći ugovor i da će na Old Trafordu ostati najmanje do kraja 2013. godine.
Iako nema status “zvezde” Park je bio veoma važan deo Fergusonovog tima koji je dao svoj pun doprinos uspesima kluba od svog dolaska i PSV-a 2005. godine.
“Od prvog trenutka kada sam stigao u Junajted, osećam se sjajno i uživam u svakom trenutku provedenom u klubu.”
“Veoma sam srećan što sam deo jednog uspešnog kluba i što sam dao svoj doprinos u osvajanju trofeja. Obećavam da ću dati sve od sebe kako bi Junajted i u budućnosti bio u vrhu evropskog fudbala.” izjavio je Park.
Aleks Ferguson je Parku tokom ponudio novi ugovor tokom turneje po Americi i 30-godišnji fudbaler nije puno oklevao.
“Đi je tokom ovih godina bio veoma važan igrač za ovaj tim. On je veoma kvalitetan fudbaler koji uvek daje svoj maksimum na terenu a u poslednje vreme nas je obradovao i sa nekim veoma važnim golovima koje je postigao za nas.” rekao je Ferguson.
Park je sa Junajtedom osvojio četiri Premijer Lige, tri Liga Kupa i Ferguson ga vidi kao važan deo svoje ekipe.

Upravu si, na 90 % utakmica, glavni kreator je bio Samir, dok je Cesc vukao onu povredu. Iskreno mislim da je bolje da pustimo Cesc-a za 45 miliona, jer nije nista posebno pokazao u prosloj sezoni, i za te pare da kupimo neku bombu, a ne da protracimo pare kao sto ce najverovatnije biti, na sitna, mlada pojacanja. Nema potrebe za tim. Inace, Fabregas je sam nosio pretrposle sezone dok je Persi slabo igrao i decko mogu reci je posle Anrija, jedna od najvecih po meni legendi u klubu. iz kostarike je klinac trazili ga i celzi i jos neki veci klubovi dobro je igrao decko ali mene vec malo nervira ovo arsenalovo igranje klinaca...nasri taman stasao u pravog pleja i sada ide u man city...doveli squilacia nista ne igra...nadam se da vermalen ove sezone igra celu jer je falio proslu i to jako...znaci po meni ne moze se samo sa klincima...danas ova postava nije imala preko 25 godina jedino arshavin i van persie i rosicky koji je vise bio povredjen u karijeri nego sto je igrao fudbal...daj neka wenger dovede vec proverene igrace i cao...gervinho se sprdao danas bukvalno...vidi se da ovi klinci imaju tehniku znaje ali nemaju iskustvo i to nesto sto veliki igraci imaju...trebaju nam iskusniji i zadrzati nasrija...ko je danas gledao tekmu valjda me razume...i tuzno mi je da vidim onu pas igru bez zavrsnice neke ima tu sada malo cvrstine u odbrani i koscielny je postao polako vec dobar DC ali mora neki vodja da se dovede i neki jak iskusan igrac...
